Country mouse meets Waaaaayyy in the country mouse.

So it’s time to tell the story of how I moved across the country. Let’s start at the beginning. Mom’s first husband had recently passed away after 20 years of marriage and mom was super lonely. She looked on the internet to try to find someone to spend time with. Mom ended up married again six months later to Joel who moved from Philadelphia, Mississippi to be with her.

Mom's first husband passed in January of 2022 and then her mom in May and she married at the end of July. That's a lot of change, a lot of grief, sorrow, and emptiness to unpack in a short amount of time. Mom got her inheritance, paid off her rogue, went on a cruise, paid a chunk on some student loans, bought a bed that grandma insisted she buy and then the rogue broke down and it was all downhill from there.

The rogue was traded for a class c motor home. We spent a month ripping out seats, carpet, flooring, rotting wood, paneling and planning for the adventure of a lifetime. We wanted our first stop to be the diamond mine in Arkansas but heading north from west monroe louisiana took us only as far as texarkana, Texas. We spent four miserable days there in the heat , in a love’s parking lot and hanging in McDonald's during the day and sweltering at night. The generator didn’t work, we were out of money and waiting for Joel’s disability to hit the debit card.

Joel’s friend Louis offered to send us money so we could limp our way to Gulfport, MS. The trip between the two places should have been 2 days took us nearly a week due to two flats that we couldn’t afford to fix on our own. us we could stay in his yard in our RV while we got back on our feet. We did stay in he and his wife’s yard for six months. It was six long, drama filled months. While we did appreciate their limited generosity we were very excited to get away from them.

Our next stop was a trailer park in Gulfport and Mom’s job at the assisted living facility. That we'll talk about another time.
